Gautam is a partner in True’s Nonprofit & Social Impact Practice, bringing two decades of experience building and leading high-impact teams across the White House, the Pentagon, Congress, philanthropy, and advocacy. He most recently served as Director of the White House Office of Presidential Personnel, where he led the recruitment and selection of more than 7,000 Biden-Harris presidential appointees—including Cabinet members, agency heads, senior executives, U.S. Ambassadors, and appointees to Presidential Boards and Commissions.
Gautam’s career has been anchored in public service and mission-driven leadership, with a proven track record of navigating complex organizations and aligning talent with purpose. He is known for his collaborative approach, deep commitment to equity, and ability to drive transformational change at scale.
A first-generation immigrant, Gautam was born in India and raised in the Seattle suburbs. He is a graduate of Stanford University and editor of West Wingers: Stories from the Dream Chasers, Change Makers, and Hope Creators Inside the Obama White House (Penguin Books, 2018), a collection of essays highlighting the people behind the policies of the Obama administration.
