Company

Gardin is redefining the future of agriculture by combining advanced optical sensing with cutting-edge plant science to optimise crop performance at scale. Through its proprietary, in-house developed remote sensing technology and analytics platform, Gardin captures detailed physiological data directly from plants in real time, offering growers unprecedented visibility into crop health, stress levels, and photosynthetic performance. This data empowers commercial growers to make faster, evidence-based decisions around irrigation, lighting, fertilisation, and harvesting, ultimately increasing yield and quality while reducing input use and environmental impact. Purpose-built for deployment in high-tech growing environments such as glasshouses and vertical farms, Gardin’s platform enables a shift from reactive to predictive and prescriptive agriculture, supporting more sustainable, efficient, and resilient food production systems globally.

Founded in 2020 and headquartered in Oxford, UK, Gardin is led by a multidisciplinary team spanning plant biology, hardware engineering, data science, and agronomy. The company is backed by Navus, Molten Ventures, LDV Capital, MMC Ventures, Seedcamp, G9 Ventures, and several prominent angel investors. They raised a £4.5m seed round in May 2025.

Since launching commercially in June 2023, Gardin’s sensing technology has been implemented in diverse growing environments, including polytunnels in Spain and Morocco, and greenhouses in the Netherlands and Canada. The system has proven effective across more than 20 different crop types, ranging from algae to tomatoes. In 2025, the company is intensifying its focus on optimising light use and improving energy efficiency, with early trials indicating that growers can reduce energy consumption by 20% to 30% through data-driven decision making. In addition to supporting operational efficiency, Gardin’s platform is being used in research to develop more resilient seed varieties, helping to strengthen the global food supply chain in a sustainable way.

Opportunity

Gardin is at a true inflection point. Fresh off its seed round and with revenue approaching €1m ARR, 45 customers signed up and a clear path toward €10m ARR, the company has secured four of the largest growers in the US and established strong commercial credibility. The Head of Sales will define and execute the global go to market strategy, strengthen customer success and lead the evolution from a high touch model to a more scalable, distribution led approach.

Beyond plant level insights, Gardin is redefining value creation in agriculture by introducing financial metrics that translate biological data into measurable ROI for growers. With ambitions to expand into supply chain partnerships and broader ecosystem impact, this is a rare opportunity for a Head of Sales to build and scale a world class commercial organisation within a purpose driven company transforming how food is grown and valued.

Role Summary

Following the completion of the company’s seed funding round, Gardin is looking to scale commercial deployments, invest further in R&D, and deepen collaborations with some of the world’s leading growers and food producers, positioning Gardin as a category-defining leader in next-generation crop sensing technology.

As Gardin accelerates its expansion across Northern Europe and North America, they are looking for a Head of Sales to lead their go-to-market strategy, drive revenue growth, secure strategic partnerships, and close high-value contracts with top-tier growers and food producers.

This is a critical executive role at the heart of Gardin’s leadership team. The Head of Sales will be responsible for scaling the commercial organisation to meet ambitious growth targets, shaping the sales structure, and expanding their existing customer base. In the first year, they will be hands-on, personally leading sales conversations, negotiating major deals, and establishing key customer relationships with both new and existing accounts. They are searching for someone who has a proven track record of growing commercial functions from early traction to multi-million dollar recurring revenue, consistently exceeding targets. Gardin is looking for a commercially minded, execution-oriented leader who combines strategic vision with the ability to operate at pace, enjoys being in the field, and thrives in a fast-moving, collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the executive team to define, prioritise, and execute geographic expansion strategies, driving growth across Europe and the United States.
  • Drive direct sales of Gardin’s hardware and software solutions, to large growers (horticulture), grower cooperatives and greenhouse builders.
  • Manage and expand reseller partnerships to reach goals.
  • Secure and expand high value recurring contracts with leading greenhouse technology providers across both existing accounts and new customer acquisition.
  • Leverage existing relationships with C-suite executives to increase customer pipeline and surpass revenue goals.
  • Ownership of the commercial goals including business development, sales and marketing to reach agreed goals.
  • Collaborate with the product team to help align customer needs with product development and toward a more self-service sales model.

Skills and Abilities

  • Senior commercial leader with a proven track record in enterprise sales and business development across horticulture, AgTech, and adjacent industries, with deep experience selling subscription based solutions to asset heavy businesses.
  • Grown hardware and SaaS software revenue from early days to multiple millions of dollars of recurring revenue.
  • Led commercial teams which include business development, sales account management, and marketing
  • Experienced in delivering commercial growth of technical products (Hardware & SaaS Software).
  • Knowledge of the global greenhouse market especially our early markets of Netherlands and North America.
  • Strong C-suite network within greenhouse technology companies, large agribusinesses, FMCGs, and government agencies.
  • Ability to personally drive sales and close deals in the first year.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a hands-on approach – comfortable operating solo in the early phase before scaling operations.
  • Experience structuring multi-year contracts and commercial negotiations.
