Co-Head of our Go-to-Market practice Kristin Godfrey spoke to The Wall Street Journal’s Patrick Coffee about a trend she’s seen with CMO hiring.
According to the Wall Street Journal, companies are looking to hire CMOs and other marketing executives with performance-marketing experience. That means they’re well-versed in getting customers to take a specific action.
Kristin said some companies are eliminating the CMO role in favor of two roles to reach that objective. She recounted how one client hired a senior vice president to focus on search engine optimization and customer relationship management, instead of hiring a CMO to take on that objective after an annual paid media budget drop. The company used to have a CMO, but decided a change in direction was needed.
